I don't think anyone replied because you waffled about half of your life
story without mentioning a problem.
You should have said something like, "I have a dracaena massangeana and it's
not doing too well, it has one live bud but no green leaves, does anyone
know anything about them?"

No one cares about your living arrangements or your feelings for your
flatmate's friend! - keep it to the point and you may stand a better chance
of getting help.
