I have some trees sprouting in my front garden. No idea where they came
from, but a friend who knows trees said they are silver birch or

Careful! It may grow to forty feet or more. They grow like weeds if you
have one nearby.

Unless you have a large back garden, and much as I love silver birches
(and their associated fungi), I'd dig it out and use it as a
walking-stick or something.
