I've more than once tried to set up a "delete on receipt" rule for
messages whose "From" line contains certain groups. It doesn't
work.

From: header lines don't contain groups, so that's to be expected.

OK, what OE offers is "Where message is on specified newsgroup".

Ah - that's not the From: header line.

And
it doesn't work. But I imagine you knew I meant that.

I know what you want to do, yes.

I read your words, noted that what you wrote won't to what you want, and
said so.

So what do you
suggest I do?

Do you have any other rules that might be somehow overriding that one ?
Does the rule work if you modify it to (say) move matching articles to
another folder, rather than delete them ?
I've seen suggestions that you may need to finish the rule with a "stop
processing rules".
I've seen it said that what you want is only possible (with OE) if the
groups are subscribed !!!

But I don't use OE myself...

I suggest you take a look at the many OE related websites -
URL:http://www.insideoutlookexpress.com for example - or ask in a
specialist OE newsgroup.
