Interesting correspondence. I always thought North South would be the best
to get early morning warmth and shield from too much heat in the middle of
the day.

No of course not, the ideal may be E-W (for making the best of the light,
esp. in the months when the sun is lower in the sky), but things will
still grow fine with it running N-S
