Default [IBC] Ants why?

Why ants make houses in some pots and not others

Probably a lot of things but if a plant is pot bound and the density of
roots prevents moisture from getting to all of the soil in a pot, the ants will
set up in the dry area. For example, under to center of a plant. the trunk and
dense surface roots may prevent the penetration of moisture.
I usually consider the presence of ants an indication that I need to repot.
