new to gardening

should i be worried that they have sprouted growth already?

No, mine are 6 inches high, although they are in a *very* sheltered
spot...they've been up for weeks, watch out for them scattering seeds if
they are near a path or driveway, mine leave hundreds of seedlings about May
which come up through the gaps in the paving slabs, OTOH if you want to
propogate new ones from seed for friends or relatives they are very easy,
once they've flowered they leave little dried up seed pods, just rub them
gently and you will get a few dozen seeds from each one, either sow directly
into the soil where you want a new row (I always think they look better in a
straight line than a 'bed') and forget about them.
