Default Fruiting trees in Melbourne?

Peter Angus wrote:
Hello all.

I'm considering putting some fruit trees in the front yard here in Melbourne
but I've got no idea what might be suitable or grow well with good yield in
this climate.

We had blood plums and apricots years ago and they seemed to do ok. The
neighbours have apples and they seem ok too.

Are there any ideal fruit trees though?

Cheers all
Peter

What part of Melbourne?

I live in Boronia at the foot of the Dandenongs. In this general area
apples (Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smiths) all do well as do pears,
Nashi pears, plums, lemons, grape fruit, quinces, apricots even almonds
if you can keep the parrots away.

Talk to your nearest good nursery, they should be able to help with
those varieties that will do well in your area.
