Makes you wonder just how many redundant links there are out there?

A lot. My experience indicates that a good 30% are just plain broken,
and another 60% are automatically generated indirections. And, of
course, only about 10% of even the real, correct pages are useful.
So it is fair to say that the Web is 99% junk :-)

[ Back in the days when Web-like systems were being designed, I
rejected Berners-Lee's approach as unmanageable and a recipe for an
unsearchable pile of misinformation - so I backed a more structured
approach. Well, I was right, technically - and wrong, politically.
