Yes. About 6 years ago I made a hedge with cornus alba and the
stolonifera variety. Most of them are shaded because of a large tree in
front, and a fence. I cannot see the difference in colours between
those in the shade and those not. I have offered both varieties to a
neighbour who has a north facing, dampest boggiest darkest corner
garden you'd imagine but with a concrete fence. Both varieties are
doing well there too and look better than mine because of the grey
concrete behind them.
