TC I've got a pond which has a filter unit and pump...
TC unfortunately the pump no longer does. It is a Draper SWP
TC 120 submersible water pump. I've pulled it up and cleaned it
TC out... The motor appears to be rather stiff. If you spin
TC the empeller by hand you can get it going, but it can't
TC start by itself.
TC Has anyone got any experience of opening up the motor and
TC does anyone know if I'll ge able to get any spare parts?

The motors themselves are sealed units and putting them back together
watertight is a difficult task. If there's no obvious problem with the
impellor fouling, it's probably more trouble than it's worth to fix
especially if there's no provision to replace the bushes (likely
cause). There are some pretty clued guys in uk.d-i-y who might be
able to give more info if you do want to persevere.

Screwfix (www.screwfix.com) have a nice submersible pump for 50 quid
with good flow, a 10M head and adapters for up to 1.25" hose. I put
one in here last month and it's lovely. 1/4 of the price of a
sepcialist "pond pump" of the same spec and does exactly the same
thing, albiet without an in-built fountain head.
