Since no experts have answered you, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to do it
in spring. Evergreen trees in spring, deciduous in winter.... that's what I
always go by.

Try planting it near a pile of fowl manure (not touching the roots)
Watch the results. Theyre also inclined to warm spots so dont face it
south. Watch for scale insects, and spray with scale oil (forgot the
name) and the tree will shoot up like the rpoverbial rocket,and dont
forget, because theyr surface rooting plants, mulch well, keep the grass
away and keep watered every few days. Make sure the soil is well drained
too..
