I thought pictures/binaries did not show in this newsgroup but this post
had
a whopping big picture of a houseplant, at least on my server.
I do not understand computers (I have been working with them for 25 years
and gave up trying to understand when microsoft took over the world) any
more and do not know why/how I could see the picture and not you.

Aspidistra??

Link not working ...

Its not a link. The o/p has attached a binary copy of the picture
to his post, in defiance of urg faq. Never mind.
Depending on how your newsreader is set up, you will either see it,
or you will seperately have to download the binary and decode it
or it will forever remain unseen.

Its not an aspidistra either. Its almost impossible to say what
it is since all we get is some stem coming through the soil with
a side shoot. That compost looks scary.
From memory aspidistras, branch at the rhizome, below soil level,
then the new leaves grow up individually.

there was a second picture with a complete view of the whole thing. That
looked more an Aspidistra but maybe not the usual cast iron plant of
grannies hallways.
The first picture was odd and scary looking.
The second one was like this:

or

but I am going purely on vague appearance so it was just a guess.
