Default Ants in the micro retic

Hi all

has any one got any idea how I can stop ants nesting in my micro
reticulation risers.

Needless to say, every time the retic comes on all the ants get compacted
into the sprayers and let no water past...........

All these problems with ants lately :-) Not good.
A while back someone thought they had army worms in their lawn. I know I did
suggest to try and stay clear of a chemical with the active constituent of
Chloropyrifos(sp??). Only due to how toxic it is, but if you don't have kids
that may be digging around where you sprayed it, then it may be worth a
shot. Careful with pets too.
It will kill ants, and in fact one of the trade names it comes under is
"Termiticide". Yep, it kills termites. Frontier, is I think another, but
either way as long as it has Chloropyrifos in it. There may be others, not
sure.
All I can suggest is follow the directions. Wear a mask with a chemical
filter, gloves, and old clothes or suit, etc.
You could try spray it in the soil, at the base of each riser. That way
hopefully they won't get to it then.
Not sure if it does tell you to water in after spraying, but it is
recomended with this one as it has to get into the soil. Just a very light
water, literally 5 seconds with the hose.
It may work. It does definitely kill ants though.

Good luck
