Default unknown squash pest problem

Let me be honest. I live in Houston but this is the only TX site and
besides my cousin lives in Austin. Sorry to see the Horns lose to LSU.
Anyways we have some summer squash growing currently in an immature state
as the flowers haven't appeared. Anyways, I recently identified some
small (appx 1/8" dia) light brown spots on the leaves. The underside is
definitely eaten out where the spots are. I couldn't identify any bugs on
the plant, but I went ahead and applied GardenSafe Insecticide on top and
on bottom. A few days later the spots seemed to hav darkened. I can't
say that they've got worse (but I can't say that they haven't).

Any ideas?

I have a difficult time growing squashes. Stink bugs (which sounds like
what you have) feed and spread some sort of virus which kills the plants.
Over the course of 2-3 days they just liquefy.

If all you have is spots with no other effects, I'd recommend that you don't
do anything for a while and see if the plants outgrow the damage.
