Default Gravity Filter, a definition?

"BenignVanilla" wrote

More seriously...does a gravity filter need to be below the level of the
main pond? I don't understand.

No, it can be level with it, if lower the sides of the filter need to be
high enough to accommodate to the level of the pond when the pump is shut
off.

Gravity fed means when you pull water out of the filter, gravity will
refill the filter from the pond. This can be done with a direct feed from
bottom drain and/or skimmer like *My Lily Pond* and the *Demon Pond* or
syphon effect like *My Filter*.

It can also mean if you suck water out of the pond to a filter higher than
the pond, gravity will flow it back into the pond usually via a waterfall.
