Hi all,
I've got loads of lopped off branches from conifers to put through the
shredder when I hire it in at the weekend. I intend to compost it but,
as I am about to lay a new lawn in a couple of weeks, was wondering if
it would be worth mixing it in with the top soil instead - or is that a
really dumb idea? As you may have guessed, I am not very knowledgeable
when it comes to things like...er...gardening - but trying to learn!
Many thanks,

We use it as a mulch

or compost it, don't dig it in to the topsoil if you are going to seed grass
soon afterwards. You may add it in to lower depths as a bulk filler fi you
are filling a hole or you could dig it in if you are leaving the soil fallow
for some months. If neither of these, compost it. If you want some organic
material well rotted poop or some mature compost will do the job better.
