I use a special email address ' for Usenet postings
because bad people harvest email addresses from newsgroup postings and then
sell them to spammers.

In general you should use a known valid email address, but not one belonging
to someone who hasn't given permission. [The point of the known valid email
address being that if you make up one it is quite likely that it already
exists or will do soon].

' is an email sink especially provided for this kind of
use.
