Default flowering bamboo

A garden I work in has a big clump of bamboo ... 20 yrs oldish ..
about 5m high ... it produces very tiny leaves and not many of those.
If I cut it down to the ground almost, would it "start again" and be
grateful :-)

Take out the oldest stems to let a bit of light and air in, feed it and
await the new replacements stems, its not a good idea to remove all the
stems in one go.
