Never thought about it being a bacterial infection. Do you think it would be
best to leave for a couple of weks to see if it clears up or remove the fish
and have a closer look? the fish is fairly big and appears to be Ok
otherwise.

Are you sure it's algae and not a bacterial or fugal infection the algae
is attached to?
