My allotment almost dried out after the recent warm weather, but after last
weekend's rain the allotment is once again completely and totally
waterlogged. It's covered with pools of stagnant (and smelly) water and is
basically a clay mud bath.

The council say they'll dig a couple of trenches down the middle the
allotment, into which they'll install drainage pipes covered with gravel,
but I'm sceptical that the new drainage will work.

Does anyone have any experience with waterlogged allotments and whether or
not these drainage pipes will work? If they don't work, I'll sadly have to
give up the allotment.
