Default Oncidium root dieoff?

I have a large Oncidium in a Coco fiber lined hanging basket with no
potting medium, outside, morning sun, 60% humidity average, 70-90
degrees heat. It is growing roots and putting up 3 new pbulbs. Some of
the new roots die back. Any idea as to the reason for this?
I spray it to full runoff twice daily with RO water and 1/4 teaspoon
MSU fertilizer, morning and noon..

Do you ever wash the excess salts out? One of the reasons for root
tip die back is salt on the fiber. If you fertilize every day the
fiber has absorbed the fertilizer and as the water evaporates the
salts build up. If there are no pests in the hanging basket I would
suggest you rinse the pot at least once a week with plain water to
remove the salt build up.
