My sister had a tree in her front yard in the center of the lawn...the
tree sprouted roots and tiny trees appeared all over the lawn. She
has had the tree cut but these little trees keep coming up all the time
all over the lawn...she mows the lawn and they get cut ...but reappear.

How can she kill these ...that are sprouting up everywhere ?

My sister does not know what sort of tree this is...the home builders
planted it...the house is about 18 years now.

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of situation ?

Pls help

Thanks
Kim

Go to your local garden department and look for a herbicide containing
2-4-D. Weed-B-Gone is one product. Next, get a bottle with a fine
spout, similar to an eye dropper, or those bottles that women's hair
setting solutions come in. Put the herbicide in the bottle
_full_strength_. Cut off the tree shoot at ground level and drop a few
drops of the herbicide on the stump of the cut. Make sure the liquid
wets the area where the bark was cut - this is where the tree nutrients
flow back & forth. This will kill the root system of the tree without
killing the surrounding grass.
Others have recommended Round Up. That product is designed to be
absorbed through the plant leaves. But it is selective - having effect
on some plants and none on others. Since you have not identified the
type tree, the 2-4-D will be your better choice.
