Default Straw or sawdust - in with horse manure

Straw or sawdust - in with horse manure - which is best?
There are free supplies of either.
Which would be better for the garden or compost heap?

Straw will rot down much quicker than sawdust especially if you heap it up
and cover it. Sawdust would need to be left for much longer, a good dusting
of nitrochalk would speed the process as the wood takes nitrogen to rot.
If you are on heavy soil the sawdust, once rotted, will make a good soil
improver as it will take more time to disappear completely. (been there done
that)
