Default The unseasonable flowers thread no 3

Rosemary I can understand - mediterranean plant, hot summer, bursting into
flower as the weather gets cooler and wetter .... but Forsythia???? (1)

And I saw a rhododendron in flower in Ilkley today

(1) in case anyone asks - no, it wasn't winter jasmine - that has more
petals, paler flowers, and (for me) has been out since October. The
forsythia is only just coming into bloom.

At the house I used to live in near you there was a Rhodo that always
flowered in late December/early Jan. We called it "old snowy"-- large,
white,non scented with droopy leaves.
ISTR that this time last year we were commenting on unseasonability.
We was robbed of the Autumn colours and my Hostas regrew in December and
then got deaded by frost.
I've got just the slightest soupcon of spring already-or is it just wishful
thinking
