Default Kill filing

What all you kill filers are refusing to wake up to is that urg is already
almost unusable

It's almost unusable, only because some former members have allowed
themselves to be driven off by a troll.

You cannot beat a determined troll on Usenet, except by ignoring
them.

As to people contacting other poster's employers. This situation
isn't unique to this newsgroup. However no employer with any
sense, would ever pay heed to anonymous tittle-tattle from people
they don't even know, about one of their own trusted employees.
It really is as simple as that.

If what is being said amounts to outright lies, then if requested the
employer can be required to make copies of any such correspondence
available for the wronged party to start civil proceedings for libel
if they so wish. If the intention is clearly to cost that person their
job, then this will hardly go down very well with any jury, I'd imagine.
If they persist in this behaviour, but just in the form of non-libellous
tittle-tattle then they can possibly be forced to desist on pains of
the Police being informed, and their being charged with committing
a nuisance.

Private emails aren't Usenet and always leave an unambiguous audit
trail. Something which people can be inclined to forget.

As to trolls posting misleading answers on the group. If sufficient
contributors post the correct answer, ideally with some sort of
external reference which the OP can confirm for themselves, then
the trolls rubbish can be drowned out. Again without any need to
actually address the troll. Arguing with trolls about the content of
their answers, again only gives them a pretext to start further
arguments.

It's coming up to Christmas, and so I'd imagine posts from
new gardeners requesting information might possibly drop off
in any case. Except for frost related and Christmas present
related questions at least.
