Default Spring run-off for water change?

I have a charming little temporary stream running through my back yard at
the present time. I am wondering about the pros and cons of pumping some of
this water into my upper pond for several hours or a day to perform a
significant water change throughout my small (less than 1000 gal) pond
system. Here in North Central Mass the pond is still completely iced over,
so the snow melt temperature should be pretty similar.

The water comes out of about 50acres of woods behind my house and ultimately
soaks into the ground to feed my point well, so I'm not too concerned about
it's purity. This is the way natural systems refresh themselves isn't it?
