I believe your right as I just did a quick intake area calculation and
the remote kit has 23% less air 1" inlet plus the extra tubing and
filter vs @.335"x3" slot - then it would have to leaner for shure - as
the intake would be acting like a dirty air filter causing it to run
rich. Hence overich at high speeds.

I guess Honda Australia have gone the wrong way, the other engines in
this
model range are smaller so #72 is a really big jet. Suprised the
dealers haven't complained a lot. On the remote air cover the standard
slot is just blocked off with a self adhesive item,
should it come loose the engine will go lean mixture really quick.

You used to be able to rely on genuine accesories but I guess they have
gone the modern way just like everthing else - no real thougher
testing, just bean counting.

The funning thing our local hardware store is now selling premium
gardening tools and they are the old fashioned ones - or copies of
built the old way. So you can still get quality at price, but they are
really built.
