Default Dogwood Tree Leaves

I have a dogwood tree in my yard that is a few years old (approx 5-6).
It
seems that it doesn't want to loose all it's leaves in the fall and
come spring there are still some dead one's on there, is this normal?
I can see that it is starting to bud so should I cut the dead leaves
off or leave the alone??? Any advice is appreciated.

Our pin oaks do that but the dogwoods (both wild and domestic) drop
their leaves naturally in the fall. Leave the tree alone. When the
new leaves emerge, the dead leaves will drop.
