Thank you so much. It was a lovely way to start a new year and yesterday we
got back from 5 nights in Jersey, both helping out and doting. ;-)

Brilliant! much better than wet and windy West Cumbria!

Don't you believe it! We had horrendous gales here on the day we left and
bumped all over the place on the 40 minute flight over. I don't like flying
and was a basket case but Ray, who did his NS in the Paras, sits happily
gazing out of the window as if in his own sitting room at home! I suppose
if you're daft enough to jump out of planes with a handkerchief on your
back, not much else fazes you! In Jersey itself, we had some heavy rain
and it was actually 2 degrees colder than here when we landed but warmed up
the next day. There were a couple of nights with strong winds while we were
there but mercifully no damage to the garden, which is always a possible
because their place faces south, looking right down to St Helier and the
wind can really barrel up the valley to them. Strong winds and salt spray
are always a hazard of living on an island, though of course, the overall
milder climate is a compensation in itself!
