There is actually a very aggressive shark, the bull shark, that likes
estuarine waters and is responsible for the majority of shark attacks
worldwide.

I remember a few years ago, some rather drunk fellow decided to swim across
the Parramatta River at Parramatta, near the river-cat wharf. It's not very
far, but when he hopped out the other side there was a big bite taken out of
his leg. That's about as far as a shark can get upriver!
