During the past week or two there has been a series of pics on the internet
showing a gal feeding up to 5 hummers out of a red plastic cap.

I got that via e-mail. I think it was on a migration path?

That's more
together in one spot than I've ever seen before. It sounds like your mom
had a lot more than that!

We counted up to 30 birds around the three feeders at any one time.
That is one of the 35mm pictures I need to find and scan.

There were 3 big oak trees nearby that they used to nest in, and we used
to watch the mating dances. :-)

The rubythroats did a fairly short arch, maybe 5 to 6 ft. across,
(they'd "swoop" back and forth in front of a perched hen) and the Anna's
had a MUCH bigger arc! 10' or more.

They are amazing and pretty smart too!

We also had some Rufus. We were on a migratory flight path in the
greater Mojave foothills.

Orioles would sometimes come thru and "drink" from the hummingbird
feeders. We never got pics of those tho'. Bright orange and black or
yellow and black birds.
