You could easily do similiar photography in your own greenhouse, using
this simple set-up:

* 2 yards of black velvet as a backdrop. Having two yards makes it easier
to drape, adjust, etc, but 1 yard will work.

* Tripod. Very important. Gives you good sharpness at slower shutter
speeds.

Optional items:

* 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper for taking white balance readings

* Remote Control for camera

Just set your backdrop up, stick your plant in front of it, put camera on
tripod, compose shot, use self-timer to take the photo. You use the
self-timer because simply touching the shutter button can lead to a less
than sharp photo due to camera shake. The self-timer waiting period allows
the camera to settle down and be perfectly still before the shot is taken.

Use of optional items is easy. Many digital cameras allow to take a custom
white balance reading. Find that feature on your camera, then put the
white piece of paper in front of the plant and take the white balance
reading. The remote control allows you to trip the shutter without
touching the camera or having to use the self-timer.
