Default Looking for deer proof ground cover

Extremely difficult to sow from seed unless you know what you are
doing, it ain't cheap, but they do sell sod. No matter, in the shade
of any sort, dappled, part, or half day is no where enough sun for
Buffalo grass. It needs sun from the dawn to dusk in order to
perform. It's the only native turf grass we have in the US

If the canopy isn't extensive, consider buffalo grass. Its all over the
hill country area. Not green all year, but will hold the soil and act as
ground cover.
