Default Crows steeling pebbles: remedy!

Can I say thanks to the gent who recommending using fishing line!

(The problem was crows stealing the pebbles I use to mulch around potted plants)

So far the fishing line is putting the crows off and it affects the plant display only slightly. I hear the crows coming and I can now get on with my work, knowing that they haven't worked a way round the obstruction. It's only been two weeks, but they'd have to be very clever to get around the line.

I hesitated at this method at first because I was worried about the crows and other birds getting injured, but it was just that I was picturing using it the wrong way. I had imagined it to be over the top off the plants rather than near the soil surface (doh!).

I've put short bamboo stakes into the pots. Each stake sticks out about 5 inches. I've then strung the fishing line from one stake to another. For stand alone pots I've put a fence all round, but for pots in rows, I've just done one long line along the front, with a few diagonals to cut off places where the crows might stand/perch.

Luckily all the pots are higher than the head of the crow, so they can't reach into the pots: they need to get a footing somewhere around the top of the pots.

After over two months of flapping and waving, I can finally relax!

Thank you!!!! :-)
