Default Nymphaea zenkeri defficiency ? clear rotting stems - light pink leaves

In my tank which I have just currently set up (see my greenwater post)
everything is pearling and growing well and my red tiger lotus is putting
out lots of leaves. The problem as that some of these are very light pink
in colour and the stems almost seem to be clear and rot away. I assume this
is some sort of defficiency ? Would it be advistable to add some Jobes
sticks to the substrate directly under neath it ?

It's normal for older leaves to die off, the stems rotting and turning
transparent. If this is happening with new leaves, then yes, it's probably a
deficiency. (I know it's not a lighting problem, in your tank. :-)

Nymphaea tend to be heavy root feeders, so giving it Jobe's is probably a good
idea. Especially since there are no fish in your tank. Some root tabs with
iron and other traces would probably be a good idea, too. These plants suck up
nutrients like you wouldn't believe.
