Default Break out the rakes

For those unknowing about sandy loam and other types of loams:

Quality sandy loams are used by landscapers for starter soil and fill in
grassy areas.

Also, grass seed needs moist soil to germinate. Grass seed is normally just
below the surface to 1/4" in the soil. The uppermost surface of the soil
will dry out first during evaporation.

Live oaks are showing signs of dropping their leaves soon. Would like to
use this to prevent water evaporation at the soil surface. 12 yds of
sandy loam spread. 6-1-1 fertilizer with Bermuda (Sahara) grass seed.
Evaporation too quick. Topmost soil dries out too quickly. Will this
work?
