Default Advice on starting a new lawn

If I was in your position, I would opt for a good organic fertilizer.
Medina, Gardenville, Greensense, or what ever is available in your area. I
would also put down either some dry molasses or spray with liquid molasses
at one ounce per gallon. Pulling the weeds and or keeping them mowed off so
they don't go to seed is the right way to go. The current winter weeds will
soon be replaced by the summer variety unless you get the grass going good
by then. Sounds like your grass provider was not the best if the weeds are
a problem.

Good Luck

Hi,

I am starting a new lawn and I wanted to get some recommendations as
to when and what is the best for starting it out. The sod has already
been laid and its just now starting to green up. I have a ton of
weeds but I am pulling them as fast as I can. Since it just rained I
was thinking about spreading some lawn starter. I am not sure if this
is the right time so I am asking for some help. There are 2 kinds
available at Lowes Pennington and Sta-Green. Does anyone have a
preference? Thanks,

Mike
