Default Pill bugs

I did a brief search on how to repell these crustasians, but wasn't
satisfied as there are mostly methods to kill them. I don't want to
kill them, I want to repell them till my plants are large enough to
sustaine any damage they do. Will cayenne pepper help if I sprinkle
it on the plants?

I tried cayenne after my marigolds were getting eaten to the nubs. It
seemed to work until the recent rains washed it away and I didn't re-apply.
And, it's definitely the pill bugs and not snails as I suspected. Kinda goes
against the common wisdom in the rec.gardens thread about marigolds, as
well.
I have two left and I dosed them just now, so I'll see how it goes. The
crowd on a spent blossom split up pretty fast.
