Lift them at the appropriate time for your area.

I agree. I live in Mi., Zone 5, and I have 250 glads that I plant around the
outside of my veggie garden in the spring, but I dig them up in the fall after
the stalks have turned brown. I have had beautiful, large blooms that keep
getting better every year.
