Dave, I sure if the shoe was on the other foot we'd never understand common
Australian/New Zealand regionalisms. The Aunt/Ant thing really does catch
my ear, however. Anyone saying Aunt sounds too, too posh to me, LOL! Like
they're putting on airs. But then I said the-ay-ter instead of thea-ter

A friend I used to work with hailed from Maine. He had been out here for some
15 years & still said "tomayto", where we say "tomarto". His comment was
similar to yours - despite how long he had been out here (and he had
unconsciously adopted many Aussie pronunciations), he felt he was trying to be
posh saying "tomarto", & consciously resisted it.

Amusingly, he was a redhead, and you know how they just don't show their age. I
thought he was about Ann's & my age, and when he spoke of his kids I assumed
they were about the same as ours. So, when we went to his place for dinner, we
took a box of chocolates for the "children", as well as wine for the adults.
Hello!! The youngest "child" of their three was 19, & all were out working! And
he was some 15 years older than us.

until my college roomates needled me into line.
As to 17) You haven't lived! Cleaning up the day after in the morning dew is
fun! http://www.wikihow.com/Toilet-Paper-a-House

Oh dear! I'd hate to wake up the next day if there had been rain overnight.

And 20) see
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pill%20bug I'm sure you've got them in the
garden somewhere.

Oh yeah! Guess what we call them? ...... Slaters!

Hmmmm. Despite four questions I couldn't answer, I came up 66% -
definitely
Dixie.

1. "Aunt" rhymes with "far", of course.
7. Addressing a group of people - what about "none of the above"?
17. Covering a house with toilet paper????????
20. Bug that rolls up - never heard of it, let alone do I have a name for
it.

Apropos of nothing, and I don't think Aussies can play, but try this for
US
regionalisms, *G*. I was 58% Dixie. Why that qualifies as 'barely' Dixie
I'll never know.
