Default Salvia identity please

I have a shrubby salvia in full bloom ATM. The bush itself is about 18
in. tall and say 4 ft. across, with flower stems extending a further 3
- 4 ft. above that. Picture at http://i17.tinypic.com/66mvnuq.jpg
(there is a yardstick bottom left, for scale), and another at
http://i10.tinypic.com/67hezat.jpg

The flowers are purple, well spread out along the stem. the flower
buds are distinctly sticky. Pics at http://i10.tinypic.com/4pweyd2.jpg
and http://i18.tinypic.com/63973mo.jpg

The leaves are grey-green, 4 - 5 in. long, deeply veined, and slightly
furry on the undersides. Pic at http://i16.tinypic.com/5xt3zhf.jpg

Grown from a cutting taken with permission from a public garden in
Penzance. Can anyone put a name to it? It doesn't seem to fit the
description of any in the RHS A-Z encyclo or in Phillips & Rix
