Default rain sitting in sawn bamboo plant

Have been given a bamboo plant to put in our garden, but its been sawn
shorter to get it to fit into the car.

So the top of the stems are hollow which will allow rain water to sit and
stay in them. Will this cause the bamboo to rot ? And should they be sealed
with something please?

Chewing gum is good
