I wouldn't worry. The rain will fill the cane down to the next
inter-nodal divider - but probably no further. It might cause the
total loss of that cane, but hey, most of it has already been
cut off so that's no problem. From what you say the plant probably
looks a bit of a wreck at present.
Actually, most bamboos in Britain look pretty dreadful at present
due to lack of rain. They're just putting up this year's new
canes and putting on some leaves - so its not the best time to move
them. However, since you've
already done it, you should soon be seeing new canes. In autumn,
cut the sawn off canes to the ground and in a year or so it will
look fine.
