etc) and would like advice on best types for our situation, with
specific brand/model recommendations if possible.

(Would like to avoid spikes because of 2-year old kids and also impact
type IF the jet would be too strong for them. They tend to run towards
any water.)

Soaker hoses? You can even cut a slit and bury them beneath the turf.
Not that hard, actually. Add a timer, a pressure regulator, and a
backflow preventer. Don't use the timers that are powered by the water
flow, there isn't enough flow for them; use a battery operated timer.
