enriched in rhizodermal mucilage contain large amounts of glucose,
moderate amounts of arabinose, xylose, mannose and galactose and trace
levels of fucose. Isoelectric focusing and SDS-PAGE indicate that there
are numerous similarities in the protein composition of materials
enriched in root cap mucilages from root exudates or aqueous root
surface extracts.
