Depends what you want to compost. Household waste mainly then go for
plastic.
For garden waste then the old-fashioned wooden bin of at least a cubic
metre is best. And even better if you line it with polystyrene to insulate
it so it stays hot.

My Urban Dalek is overrun with slugs - if you listen carefully you can hear
them chewing, so they must be helping the composting process, but they're
disgusting. How can I discourage the slugs but not kill the other useful
beasties?
