That said it is your chioce. You could always place a birdfeeder somewhere
convenient for the wild birds and feed them that way, fat balls are useful

Incidentally "OT" Red Hot Poker is a wonderful bird food plant for
spring, Good to see birds hanging from the flowers feeding.

When you say "food for late moths" are you suggesting late flowers?
(Even though the weather up to a few days ago was warmish, our buddleias
are well and truly over)
