Don, you've said that you have a Bachelors and a Masters degree but you
never specified what school. Excuse my curiosity but did you have a
choice between production or conservation? John is on record that he is
self taught arborologist. This of course doesn't exclude other course
work.

John lists himself as a consulting arborist, he is a limb hacker with
grandiose ambitions to be a Dr. Shigo, I suspect he was an assistant at one
time to the good Doctor, but a Certified Arborist he is not. He at one time
appeared on forestry boards and basically was laughed off them.

University of Missouri, the second set of curricula listed in a previous
post, in 1962 for the BS, and it was in conservation and production, the two
are not, and cannot, be separated in today's world. It was called the
School of Forestry, now Environmental studies, or some such. I have over 40
years experience in forestry, and have met the "John's" numerous times in
the past, they are a plague on home owners, and profess knowledge and
abilities well beyond their capabilities. It seems that most readers of
this board recognize that, but newbie's need to be aware of charlatans in
the business.
