presume these are black currants and the unaffected ones red currants.
How should I deal with the big bud? Would I be better digging out the
effected bushes and starting again somewhere else on the allotment, or can
the mite be destroyed by pruning off the effected branches (not much bush
would be left if I did that)?

I have just pinched off the 'big bud' buds and destroyed them and for the
time they are still fruiting very well, not at this moment you understand
lol



I kept on top of mine with big bud for around 8 years then decided to
grub up and burn, planted all new bushes and they have never been as good
as before!
