Its lots of smaller trees apparently, least ways that's what gets planted
these days.

That's the way I've gone with my veg plot, 4ft wide deep bed with
cordons on M26 spaced 70cm apart, slanting at 45 degrees. You also get
a good spread of varieties over the season 17 different in my case.
